The Florida Breast Cancer Foundation (FBCF) recently hosted its 4th annual "Shades of Pink" fundraiser at the Newport Beachside Hotel and Resort in Sunny Isles Beach. A tremendous success, the event attracted influential community members, breast cancer supporters, advocates and survivors, and raised a substantial amount of funds for the foundation.

Florida Breast Cancer Foundation (FBCF) has proudly partnered with the Community Health Charities of Florida (CHC-FL) in the efforts of ending breast cancer. This partnership will allow FBCF an opportunity to take advantage of exclusive campaigns and involvement with CHC-FL corporate partners. FBCF is very enthused about potential involvement with corporate partners such as City of Jacksonville, Jacksonville Electric Aviation, American Express Service Center in Ft. Lauderdale, United Health Care, and Florida Blood Service to name a few.

Washington D.C. was painted pink by nearly 900 people who gathered from May 2nd - 5th to hear the latest breast cancer science and public policy news at the 2009 Annual Advocacy Training Conference and Lobby day. Over 60 Florida breast cancer advocates from Florida met with Florida representative and senators, such as Senator Bill Nelson, Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, and Congresswomen Ileana Ros-Lehtinen speaking on the National Breast Cancer Coalition 2009 Legislative Priorities; guaranteed access to quality health care for all and $150 million for FY10 for the Department of Defense Breast Cancer Research Program.

The FBCF scientific committee recently approved the funding of two DoD concept awards, granting close to $200,000 to two research projects, one at the University of Florida (Gainesville) and the other at Florida State University (Tallahassee).
