Jane Torres Scholarship Application
The Jane Torres Scholarship Fund was established by the Florida Breast Cancer Coalition Research Foundation to assist individuals interested in obtaining education and training in breast cancer research and advocacy. Jane Torres, the founder of the Florida Breast Cancer Foundation, strongly believes that to achieve our goal to end breast cancer, we must have advocates who are trained and educated in the science of breast cancer, current breast cancer research data, and who know how to practice effective advocacy strategies.
Established to honor Jane, the scholarship allows Florida Breast Cancer Foundation advocates to attend:
FORCE (Facing Our Risk of Cancer Empowered) Annual Conference designed for people and families affected by hereditary cancer or genetic mutation associated with increased risk of cancer. The conference presents a wide range of topics and the latest research on hereditary cancer for: survivors, previvors, people with a BRCA mutation or family history of cancer, patient advocates, researchers, and health care providers who treat high-risk patients.

Scholarship recipients must agree to serve on the FBCF Advocacy Committee and have met the pre-requisites for each of the programs. The total amount of scholarship funds awarded to an applicant will depend on the applicant’s financial need, number of qualified applicants, funds available for the given year, and the total expense associated with the specific program.
