Progress Report, Blueprint, and
New Blog from Fran Visco

Today, NBCC has released the Second Annual Progress Report, an important update to our Baseline Report published last year. We are counting on NAN advocates to read the report and get the word out to others.
While little has changed in breast cancer treatment, statistics and other key areas, NBCC has done significant and substantial work in the past year, which is fully described in Section 9 of the 2012 Progress Report. As you well know, however, this is not enough. We now have less than eight years to achieve our goal of ending breast cancer by January 1, 2020.
The next steps of the campaign are outlined in NBCC’s recently developed Blueprint for Breast Cancer Deadline 2020®, which is also being released to the public today. The Blueprint describes how NBCC will harness the energy, resources and leadership around the world to achieve Breast Cancer Deadline 2020®. The document highlights our plans in three areas aligned with NBCC’s three goals: research, access and influence.
NBCC President Fran Visco has also written a great blog in the Huffington Post with the headline, “Can We Win A Gold Medal in Breast Cancer?” which should get wide circulation.
ACTION: In order for Breast Cancer Deadline 2020® to succeed, it is critical that this information be shared throughout the larger breast cancer community and among the general public. Please read all of the documents and articles referenced in this alert and spread the word to your organizations and networks. We have already shared the Progress Report and Blueprint with reporters and have issued a press release widely. In addition, we are promoting links on our website, via email and on social media.
We need your help in getting the word out and expanding the universe of people who know about Breast Cancer Deadline 2020® and are behind our efforts to end breast cancer by January 1, 2020.
