Volunteer/Survivor Spotlight

Today’s “Wednesday’s Wonderful Woman” is dedicated to two Wonderful Women, Jean Burgess and her daughter Allison J Walker.

Jean, a new Tampa volunteer,  and her daughter,  Allison, volunteered to work the Sisters Network Tampa “Gift for Life Block Walk”  last Saturday, less than two weeks after Jean completed reconstructive surgery.

The committed volunteers even purchased pink candies and formed a pink ribbon on the Florida Breast Cancer Foundation’s event table.  The candy, designed to entice extra visitors to the table, did the trick and the mother and daughter duo spent several hours telling people about the Foundation.

Tomorrow the team will speak at the University of Tampa campus at a “Pink Tie Affair” organized by Sigma Lambda Gamma National Sorority Inc.  Jean will discuss with the students    how her breast cancer was diagnosed and Allison will share how the diagnosis, treatment and aftermath affected the family.

Jean and Allison, your enthusiasm and energy are awesome, and that’s why today we salute you as our ” Wednesday’s  Wonderful Women.”
