Today’s Wonderful YOUNG MEN AND WOMEN

WOW Wednesday salutes the newest generation of breast cancer fundraisers, the young men and women in high school and college who held fundraisers for the Florida Breast Cancer Foundation for Breast Cancer Awareness month.

The Pink Tie Affair at the University of Tampa, sponsored by the Sigma Lambda Gamma National Sorority Inc., invited a speaker from the Florida Breast Cancer Foundation and donated the proceeds of the dinner to the Foundation.  Jean Burgess and her daughter Alison Walker spoke about Jean’s experiences with her breast cancer and Alison spoke about the effects on the family.

“Think Pink Gala” and Fundraiser, organized by high school student Joshua Petalas was held in Tamarac, FL.  The event was well planned and organized.  All proceeds were donated to the Florida Breast Cancer Foundation and plans are now in place for the Think Pink Gala 2013.

The High School Volleyball team from Palmetto High School organized a fundraiser for the Florida Breast Cancer Foundation.

The Student Government Association of McArthur High School in Hollywood collected donations for the Foundation.  Brandon Chaver, with the Association wrote:  “It is a pleasure for us to donate this money to such a serious cause.  Knowing that this money could possibly be saving a life brings contentment to our hearts.”

The Varsity Girls volleyball team, The Lady Cheetahs,   from Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic School, Miami Lakes, Florida, organized  “Dig Pink” conference games and donated the proceeds to the Foundation.  German Garcia, Physical Education/Athletic Director, said that all the teams, coaches, referees, and fans wore pink to support the cause and raise money.

We are honored to have been the recipient of such dedication and enthusiasm from all of the young fundraisers and send a big Wednesday WOW!!! to all organizers and participants in these events.  YOU ALL MAKE A DIFFERENCE and Together we WILL end breast cancer!
