As we all deal with an unprecedented and constantly evolving set of circumstances surrounding the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, there are some things that do not change and you can count on—the Florida Breast Cancer Foundation (FBCF) is as committed as ever to the three cornerstones of our mission: to educate, advocate, and empower.

Your health and overall wellbeing are still our top priorities. And because of that, we began to telecommute last Friday. We, of course, want to do everything we can to protect the health of those we serve, many of whom have weakened immune systems due to cancer and cancer treatment. We want to protect our volunteers, many of whom are undergoing cancer treatment themselves or live with someone with cancer. We want to protect our generous partners whom we value and will connect with via modern technology. We want to protect our staff and their families, because we value them and all they contribute. And we want to serve as an example as a health organization committed to leading with intelligence, compassion, and always with a view of the big picture in order to serve the most in the best way possible.

That said, we are not pressing pause. In fact, due to the special challenges of those we serve, we see our need magnified during this crisis.

We begin with a gentle and kind reminder to all of you to please, do your part. COVID- 19 poses a much higher level of risk for cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy and radiation due to their compromised immune systems. We have LINKED INFORMATION HERE that can help you during this difficult time from specific steps recommended to cancer patients, to phone numbers you can call for help or more specific information or direction. We also urge you to check back here periodically as our team will be updating information as our understanding of the virus and the situation evolves.

We are here for you as much as we always have been, and we are committed to serving you in every way we can. Thanks to technology, we plan to do outreach and connect with you regularly. Please do not hesitate to connect with us.

I’ll leave it here for now, but please know we are sending you our very best hopes for your safety and health and that of your families and friends, and really, for all of us.

For now, best,
