Our Vision

Save lives of those impacted by breast cancer by supporting scientific research, community education, public policy through advocacy, and community-based organizations.

  • Founded in 1993, the Florida Breast Cancer Foundation (FBCF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to ending the suffering caused by breast cancer.
  • All funds raised remain in Florida to support breast cancer programs for Floridians.
  • FBCF has earned the coveted 4-Star Exceptional rating from Charity Navigator for demonstrating strong financial health and commitment to accountability and transparency. FBCF is the #1 rated breast cancer organization in Florida and #4 in the country, exceeding industry standards and outperforming most others in its Cause.
  • FBCF's four mission pillars are Scientific Research, Education, Advocacy, & Support Resources which serve to better the lives of those faced with breast cancer in Florida.

Scientific Research: Only through research will breast cancer be defeated and FBCF continues to challenge the scientific community to design innovative research that will foster new directions for, address neglected issues in, and bring new investigators to the field of breast cancer research. FBCF focuses its funding on research projects that have the potential to make a significant impact on breast cancer, and aims to fund projects that are innovative and reflect a collaborative and multidisciplinary approach. Grants are awarded to institutions after rigorous review by respected members of the scientific community.

Education: Ensuring Floridians receive the proper breast cancer education is one of the fundamental pillars of the Florida Breast Cancer Foundation's mission. Grants are provided to nonprofit community-based organizations to:

  • Educate women and men from all socioeconomic backgrounds to become proactive advocates for their own breast health.
  • Educate young women and men (middle school, high school, and college ages) about breast health.
  • Provide education to breast cancer survivors, their families, and advocates on life after or with cancer, including guidance and support during the transition from patient to survivorship.
  • Reduce the number of late-stage diagnoses in areas of the state that exceed the Florida average.

Advocacy: Florida Breast Cancer Foundation (FBCF) works statewide to raise awareness and mobilize Floridians to ensure sufficient public funding for breast cancer research, and quality health care for all without fear of discrimination in an environment free of carcinogens. In collaboration with other organizations, FBCF educates legislators regarding important issues surrounding women's health. Each year, FBCF strongly advocates for continuous and sufficient funding for the Mary Brogan Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program (BCCEDP) in Florida which provides annually more than 15,000 low-income, medically underserved Florida women access to cancer screenings and diagnostic testing services.

Support Resources: FBCF has dedicated staff to provide guidance to breast cancer patients and their families in need of support, such as financial support, medical services, or emotional support, among other needs.
